O Father, our LORD and Creator, as we look forward to the coming days of this new year, we ask for Your mercy and grace upon a nation that has fallen far from You. We seek Your face, O God. Do not turn Your eyes from us, nor remove Your mighty hand of protection.
We once were a nation educated in Your ways, we knew Your truths, Your compassion, Your glory, and wisdom, and power. All these precious gifts provided through You are ignored in our nation today as we recklessly rush to separate ourselves from all that is right and good, and hasten instead into the abyss of moral confusion that spins us like a compass that cannot find true north.
O LORD, as believers, we know mankind are but mere specks within the realm of spiritual warfare that is raging all around us. Day-by-day we see the wreckage as those mighty battles come ever closer. We witness their destruction upon earth. We see their evil guidance over the principalities that rule and reign every world government. We see how they seek to usurp Your authority, and how concentrated are their efforts to destroy us. We know the world’s population are their pawns, and we know there will come a day when You will move against them.
Yet, we also know that our earnest prayers are our far reaching and powerful heavy artillery—a direct line straight to You. We know that the sweet scent of our requests rise to fill Your nostrils and You do not turn away. We also know that Your Beloved Son, who knows all, intercedes on our behalf, that whatever we neglect or forget to ask, He pleads for us. We are thankful and grateful that He is our warrior King who sits beside you in Your Heavenly throne room waiting for Your perfect moment when You will release Him to come and end this strife. O how wonderful it is to know that You are the God of all, and Your timing is perfect. You alone have the authority, and this provides rest and comfort, peace and security.
And so, we pray this first day of 2024 for Your continued protection upon this nation and the world. Thank You, Father God for Your Son, who died and rose again that we may live. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your Glory, Power, and Might. We seek the day of Your final return.
