WHY WOULD HE?

JAP discusses God’s reasons for doing the things He does…

Genesis 1:1-3—“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light.”

In the beginning God created!

God simply said, “Let there be the heavens and the earth” and they were. He said, “Let there be light” and there was. Today God’s Word still stands, and it will stand until “the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning and the elements will melt in the heat.” (2 Peter 3:12)

God created the world with His own power and He has the same power to destroy it.

But why would He?

“The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The Lord was grieved that He had made man on the earth and His heart was filled with pain. So, the Lord said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—for I am grieved that I have made them.” (Genesis 6:5-7)

However, because there was ”one man who found favor in the eyes of the Lord—Noah,” through him our merciful God gave the world one more chance to repent, but they refused, so He had Noah build an ark for safety from the coming flood of judgment that would cover the earth.

Yet after leaving the ark and stepping into a new world cleansed from sin and evil, it did not take long for man to fall back into his old habits, and every immoral act of rebellion against God began all over again.

But God didn’t change. He loved His creation and gave man yet another chance. “This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him—as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (2 Peter 4:10)

Today an antagonistic world continues to fill God’s heart with pain as people refuse to accept Christ’s sacrifice in place of their sins.

But our Lord will return to earth on His Second Coming: “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True.” He will see the Beast (Antichrist) and the false prophet, and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against Him. But the Beast, and the false prophet, and Satan will all be captured. (Revelation 19:11-21).

God’s hope that “creation itself will be liberated from its bondage of decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God” (Romans 8:20) failed, and pre-ordained judgment fell. The world crucified the only One who could save them, and the choice of each life belongs to each man.

And still God was not finished. He resurrected His precious heir to new life. And He will create a beautiful new earth where Christ will reign for a thousand years (Revelation 20:4), along with all those who have accepted His achieving sacrifice for them with personal repentance.

For those who refuse, there remains only one final terrible conclusion: “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it, and I saw the dead, great and small standing before the throne. Anyone whose name was not written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11-15)

May you be among whose names are written in the book of life. To do this people must accept the Lord Jesus Christ and His sacrifice of love now, today—before it is eternally too late!

AMEN!
