The Apostle John writes in Revelation 22:8-9…and when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things. But he said to me, “DO NOT DO THAT! I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who heed the words of this book. Worship God.”
Angel worship = NEVER
A woman I know writes books and gives life coaching seminars on how angels can give you whatever you want—love, wealth, health, happiness, power, god likeness. All you have to do is worship them to be like god! Interestingly, she happens to be a highly trained hypnotist who uses this training to deceive people for money—pure smoke and mirrors.
In Matthew 4:9-10 Jesus answers the fallen angel Satan, about his request to be worshiped, when Satan says, “All these things I will give You, if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus replies, “Go from Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.”
This particular angel is attempting to sell something he doesn’t rightfully own. He stole the Deed to Earth when Adam and Eve sinned against God. Satan is a thief, a grifter, a shister of souls. Because ‘all these things’ he claims he can give back to the Lord are all the things of the world—its creation, resources, and possessions. He is such a liar! Because Who created the world? God did—specifically the Lord Jesus Christ! So how can Satan claim to give anything to the God Man who DID create everything?
Satan not only lies and deceives people, he also lies and deceives himself. How? Egotism—self-centeredness, self-seeking, self-serving, self-obsession, vanity, conceit—the list is quite long—and the nucleus is pride.
But just because the earth was deeded over to him (because of Adam and Eve), does not allow him to claim creation ownership of earth.
So if we’re clearly told not to worship angels, regardless of whether they still serve God or not, then who are angel-worshipers actually worshiping? The woman mentioned above would have people believe they are worshiping ‘the good angels of the universe’. Well, Who created the universe? Who created the archangel Michael? Who created Lucifer/Satan? Who lowered Satan to snake status in the Garden of Eden?
Satan, his fellow fallen angels, and his demons are the self-centered, self-seeking, self-serving haters of mankind. Why do they want people to worship them?
They want to forever remove God’s beloved creation from living everlasting with Him—the One True God, the three in one Trinity—Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
People fall for the deception—the sweet, innocent, colorful lie, that in truth hides the most evil package—total separation from God.
Romans 1:25—for they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Satan and his band of murderers roam about searching for a crack in your armor. Some characteristic resembling vanity, pride, or fallacy. They watch you. They study your actions. They listen to you. And they scheme—ways to deceive you—always twisting something good and Godly into something evil. Little bit by little bit, then bigger and bigger until they’ve got you. But remember, they are not omnipotent, or omnipresent, or omniscient. So, do not be deceived—especially by people who encourage ‘innocent’ angel worship.
Colossians 2:18—Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels…
Be particularly cautious of people who claim to have angelic ‘visions’ or ‘hearings’ (“they told me…”), because the last part of this verse is critical!
…taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind.
Fleshly mind/heart is sin. It is a sin to worship angels.
